Alumni

The Alumni Association of St. Clement’s Regional Catholic School was formed in the spring of 1994, on the heels of the school’s 75th birthday celebration. A volunteer committee of 18 alumni and parents of alumni formed a nominating committee to establish a board of trustees. Maureen Buffardi Winney ’70, assumed the presidency with Patty Zabala Nettleton, Steve Harran, Anna Farone, Colleen Hart Carlson, and Martha Flanigan filling out the officer slate. There were 16 board members and efforts to make an immediate impact were focused. An adopt a book program was established, the first “Equestrian Festival” was held in May of 1995, the Fr. Bergmann Scholarships for graduating 6th graders were initiated along with the first annual “Phonathon”and the Association began to monetarily support efforts to enrich the educational process at St. Clement’s.

A mission statement was conceived to develop an endowment fund which would be dedicated to support non-operational needs of the school and to raise funds to support a continuing “grant” program that enhances the academic mission of the school.

The grant program was initially a response to requests from faculty and administration for support of projects that were falling outside the normal operational budget. It has become an annual process where the entire faculty and administration propose unmet needs and freshly conceived plans, whereupon funding will enhance their educational mission. The program has grown to provide $30,000 annually in grants.

The endowment fund was successfully grown to $100,000 over the first 8 years and then held at this level. The earnings from this fund are used in the grant program as well.

Currently there are 7 members on the board of trustees. Anna Farone, is the sole charter member. Annamaria Dalton, Cathy Molteni, Greta Theisen McCauley, Ann O’Brien, Missy Pecora and Rick Schumaker complete the board.

Connie Foley and Mike Roohan have recently left the board after serving for many years.

The board meets about five times a year and has focused on the continuation of the grant program through the continuance of the annual Phonathon, which occurs during Catholic Schools Week in the winter and the Equestrian Festival which is timed with the Horse Show each spring. The Equestrian Festival is run by a group of volunteers, consisting mostly of parents, who successfully manage this large fund raiser and entertaining event.
